Max Planck Society White Paper on Animal Research – a Policy for Basic Research?

Thomas joined the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Sciences in 2002 to work as an Adviser on Legal Aspects in Science and Research at the Department of Legal Affairs and Structural Development. Thomas is responsible for the political, legal and ethical issues of animal experimentation and genome editing with a particular focus on embryonic stem cell research and genetically modified organisms.

Thomas holds a Diploma of Political Science (Freie Universität Berlin, Germany) and a Master of Arts in Advanced European Studies (College of Europe, Bruges, Belgium). He worked as Magazine Editor, Assistant for Members of the European and German Parliament, Political Analyst and Public Relations Officer for a non-profit biomedical research association.

EARA AGM will take place back to back with the 47th Annual Scand-LAS 2017 Meeting. EARA will be speaking on Thursday June 1st in the afternoon session on “How to communicate laboratory animal research to the public”. There is registration free access for delegates to EARA AGM and open lecture who are not attending Scand-LAS, which will be sent to you when you confirm your presence.
