Our first seminar is focused on strategies for CRISPR mouse model generation, and the second will look at Humanized NSG™ mice as an innovative tool for immuno-oncology research. Genome editing with CRISPR/Cas9 enables the generation of new mouse models with unprecedented speed and simplicity. Every day, new studies continue to leverage the potential of CRISPR to generate novel strategies for modeling diseases and assessing therapeutic intervention. In this seminar, we will present:
- Strategies for high-throughput generation of mouse models (KO/KI) using CRISPR/Cas9
- Emerging application for CRISPR/Cas9
- Technical challenges and special considerations for the use of the CRISPR/Cas9 system

1:00 – 2:00 PM: Immunobiology of Humanized Mice: Preclinical Applications in Infectious Disease & Immuno-Oncology

The NOD scid gamma mouse uniquely supports the engraftment of human hematopoietic cells, enabling the creation of “humanized” NSG™ (hu-NSG™) mice. These mice serve as the state-of-the art platform for studying human immunobiology, infectious diseases, graft-versus-host disease, and immuno-oncology. In this seminar, we will discuss:
- Key genetic components rendering NSG™ mice immunodeficient
- Development of human immune cells in NSG™ versus NSG™-SGM3 transgenic mice
- Data demonstrating human immune functional activity
- Preclinical applications in infectious disease and immuno-oncology
